Life Drawing Workshop
Workshop Art Core and Bathurst Art Society members only
Linda Gallant, a member of Miramichi Art Core, will be doing a Life Drawing Workshop at her home studio on November 10th, 2023.
I understand Life Drawing is a new way of approaching art production and many can be intimidated and afraid to try it. Perhaps Life Drawing is viewed as too difficult to learn when so much has to be taken in all at the same time. This is a pity since you may never feel the exhilaration this type of work can bring. But remember we have all had to trust the learning process. Draw comfort from others who are just as hesitant in their ability as you.
Life Drawing is a very personal experience and is extremely liberating and enjoyable. The act of drawing becomes worth the effort. You will begin to relax but be super focused at the same time. My hope is you will be less self-conscious of your perceived short-comings and be more confident and intuitive in your own ability to draw when you leave.
Things to bring : 50 plus pages of 8 1/2″ x 11′ photo-copy paper – a couple of Sharpie felt pens, 1 fine point and 1 medium – Bring a stiff drawing board so you are not working flat on a table top.- Scissors – Glue, stick or liquid – Masking tape or cello tape – Larger cartridge or newsprint paper.
The process involves a short survey of generalities regarding body proportions, line drawing with pen techniques, understanding asymmetry, body balance, stance, weight support, gesture drawing, contour drawing, knowing and showing the drawing from observation difference, body movement, joint movement, combining both, expressive poses and layouts for composition.
